Filing for bankruptcy is “best thing to happen” financially to California man
Minnesota residents who are struggling under similar circumstances may want to reach out to a Minneapolis, Carver or Anoka county bankruptcy lawyer for consultation.
On this blog, we've devoted a number of articles to highlighting the real stories of everyday Americans who have successfully used bankruptcy to get out of the shadow of past debt and turn their lives around financially. With today's entry, we're bringing you the story of Eric, a Californian who once feared having a “scarlet B emblazoned across [his] chest” if he filed for court protection.
In an article he penned for USA Bankruptcy Guide, Eric discussed how he spent nights losing sleep, trying desperately to determine where he was going to come up with the money to meet his bills and wondering constantly who and how much to pay. Still, in spite of this hardship, he continued for a time to avoid bankruptcy.
“I couldn't have been more wrong,” Eric wrote in his submission to the source. “Filing bankruptcy, in fact, turned out to be the best thing to happen to me financially in the past 10 years.”
Following the filing, Eric says his quality of life greatly improved. Bankruptcy helped him establish a clear path and easy schedule that prioritized which of his creditors would be paid each month. It also gave him long-term financial goals, and with these, a sense of control over his life again.
Most importantly, Eric's worst fears didn't come to pass. He wrote that despite his worries, bankruptcy did not carry the social stigma he anticipated.
“Many people looked up to me, in fact, for taking the bull by the horns and getting back on,” Eric wrote.
